Trio - Week 1

Howdy - The first week of the trio!
It was so much fun!  This next transfer is going to be so much fun!  I cannot wait!  We have a baptism on the 24th!  The day after my birthday, and that is actually Elder McHan's birthday!  So we are going to PARTY IT UP! haha.  Elder McHan is from a small town in Idaho called Gooding.  What's with me and my companions being from small towns?? First Cedar Hills, then Tooele, now Gooding.
Anywho this last week was pretty amazing.  We were surprised by a call Thursday night from our Zone Leaders telling us to be up at Knightdale by 1:45 Saturday afternoon.  We later found out that ELDER NEIL L. ANDERSON will be speaking to us!

When we found that out we were all so excited!  Being in the presence of an Apostle! Along with him were 2 Seventies and an Area Authority, Elder Pieper, Elder Martinez and Elder Parker.  We were lucky to hear from all of them!  Elder Anderson is so funny!
Also before I forget what time are we going to Skype next week! Can you believe it is already time for that again?  Time is just flying by!
Hope to hear from you soon! Love ya!

Raleigh Temple Day!

We got to go to the Raleigh Temple last week!  The Raleigh Temple is in Cary (my first area, and shares a parking lot with the Cary 1st Ward) so I saw my old District!

Elder Vaterlaus and Elder Beach

My New District: Elder McHan from Idaho, Elder Koopmans from St. George, Elder Vaterlaus from Mesa, Elder Austin from Florida, me, and Elder Evans from Riverton

Hola.
So Friday night we get a call from our District Leader, "Elders! Are y'all ready to be in a tri-panionship!?" Elder Austin, the Visa waiter, finally got his Visa and is going to Brazil! So for the next transfer I will be in a trio with my District Leader-Elder McHan, and Elder Vaterlaus.  I am super excited for the trio ! It is going to be so much fun!  I will probably "kill off" Elder McHan. (Be his last companion in the mission)  It's going to be interesting getting everything situated.
Love ya –

Easter - April 20, 2014

I saw the Worthington Easter Egg hunt. I cannot believe how good Dex is looking! Holy crap!  I am glad I have started to work out!  I need to keep up with him!

Yesterday we went to the 1st Counselors house for dinner.  They had their extended family there as well. During the Easter Egg hunt, I got super homesick - Just remembering doing that with both families, helping the smaller ones find eggs.  Then it got me thinking even more... After the mission, I am going to be dating to find a wife.  That kinda scared me.  I am going to be looking for my eternal companion, to start a family.

After thinking about that, that was all I could think about.  I cannot wait to have a family of my own. It's gonna suck [having to wait] and I wish I can just fast forward to where I have a steady job, and my family, and everything is going great.  But I know that we have to go through what we don't want to, so that we can learn from those experiences.

I miss y'all so much!  Hope you had a great Easter!

Love,

Elder Beach

Oh wait I do have one picture, I opened my Easter package at Chris'.
I think he and Dom had more fun than I did with those things.

Fayetteville - A Fresh New Start!

April 14, 2014
Just got to the library.  This last week was pretty good.  In this area, we actually do a lot of Tracting.  I don't mind it cause it helps me build up the courage to just talk to people.  A typical day in Fayetteville for me so far is getting up!  Going to the gym at 6 working out until 7, get back, clean up, start our studies!  and then we either come to the library and do our online proselyting or take an early lunch then come do Facebook and then go find a new neighborhood that we haven't knocked in yet and tract in there for a little bit and then go stop by some formers or prospective elders.  Then about that time depending if we are getting fed dinner by a member or not, we head back home to eat or get picked up.  After dinner we usually have an appointment with an investigator, we teach them, then we go back home, plan for the next day, get some good sleep (hopefully) then we wake up and repeat!
We have two investigators with a baptismal date right now.  One has had a pretty rough past, but he is progressing really well!  He is just having a bit of a challenge with quitting smoking.  I cannot begin to understand how hard it must be to quit. He said he's been smoking since he was young, but he is a pretty solid investigator. He actually invited one of his friends, to take the discussions! So we have started teaching her.  We have another AMAZING investigator.  He is only 19 and he really does think and ponder about what we are teaching him. He comes to the discussions with questions, he prays and reads the scriptures!  I don't think we could ask for a better investigator!  He is so awesome.  He is living with one of the families in the ward, he is in the Army and has been for about 4-5 months. He works with the father of the family and they finally ended up asking if he was interested in learning more about the LDS religion.  I love being a missionary!  I love being in Fayetteville!  I am so excited for this new start!
Love ya!

This was a while ago. I just haven't had a chance to send it yet.

Activity Zone Conference!  I got to see Elder Buckner!

And some other friends.  I don’t know the missionary in the green shirt,
he just decided to hop in on the picture.

So we helped someone move yesterday.  I saw the hat and put it on
while we were moving him, later on he said I could have it!

I don't know why I haven't gotten a cowboy hat sooner!

Momma Beach emailed E.Beach about our upcoming and much anticipated Annual Ward Lip Sync!  This is a fun activity that our Ward has been doing for a couple of decades!  Everyone looks forward to it!  Most of the Auxillaries participate from The Primary, YW & YM & Relief Society.  This year, the Relief Society will be doing Fresh Prince of Bel Air!.  At our first practice, several of us kept rappin’ the song and our RS President kept asking how we knew the song?  (Now let’s face it, if you were raised right, no matter your age, you probably can repeat a portion of this iconic TV theme song, right?)  The President is in her early 40’s.  One of the other participants said, “Oh, if you were in your 30’s you’d know the song.” Ha! Ha! (I just kept quiet, since I’m clearly not still in my 30’s)
I related the story to Elder Beach and he immediately sent this reply:
iiiiiin West Philadelphia born and raised on the playground is where I spent most of my days, Chillin’ out, Maxin', Relaxin' all cool, and shootin some B-Ball outside of the school when a couple of guys who were up to no good, Started makin’ trouble in my neighborhood. I got in one little fight and my mom got scared and said you're moving in with your auntie and uncle in a town called Bel-Air.
I begged and pleaded with her day after day. But she packed my suit case and sent me on my way. She gave me a kiss and then she gave me my ticket.  I put my Walkman on and said, I might as well kick it'.
First class, yo this is bad!  Drinking orange juice out of a champagne glass!  Is this what the people of Bel-Air living like?  Hmmmmm this might be alright! But wait I hear they're prissy, bourgeois, all that. Is this the type of place that they just send this cool cat? I don't think so. I'll see when I get there. I hope they're prepared for the prince of Bel-Air!
Well, the plane landed and when I came out. There was a dude who looked like a cop standing there with my name out.  I ain't trying to get arrested yet, I just got here. I sprang with the quickness like lightning, disappeared.  I whistled for a cab and when it came near the license plate said “fresh” and it had dice in the mirror. If anything I could say that this cab was rare, But I thought 'Nah, forget it' - 'Yo, home to Bel Air'. I pulled up to the house about 7 or 8. And I yelled to the cabbie 'Yo homie smell ya later'. I looked at my kingdom. I was finally there to sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel Air!
His next email said, “So then does that mean I am old if I know the words? ;)
My reply:  “Ha ha! No. That means you are totally COOL!”

Missionary Spring Break 2014

Monday, April 7, 2014
2nd Area: Fayetteville, NC
3rd Companion:  Elder Vaterlaus from Arizona

So...I forgot my camera... I had it on my desk ready to go for when we leave, but I still forgot it... Hate it when that happens....

I am loving this new area!  I get along with the new Elders in this area very well and I love the members here.  They welcomed me so nicely. They are all so fun to be around!  I love being around the military too... I don't know why.  Maybe this will either make me continue to want to be in the military or to not be in it.  I love working with the military.  They are so kind and humble.

Umm so the area is TOTALLY different from Cary.  In Cary I would feel confident in leaving my bike outside overnight...here, I don't feel confident having it outside for 5 minutes.  When I was in Cary I felt super spoiled since I was in my first area for 7 and a half months and made so many friends!  Coming to this area they already had 4 baptismal dates and one of them is super solid.

Elder V. is hilarious!  I love him, uhh what else?  I've found that I have a lot more courage and faith to talk to the people here than I did in Cary.  I just am like, hey lets go to this house and then BAM! we did and got a pretty solid contact from it.  The lady told us to call back in 2 weeks.  She has a co-worker who is LDS and said she will talk to her and ask her questions and what not.

I am so excited to be in this area, not only cause my uncle is here, but it is a new fresh start!  I am loving it here so far!  It's raining pretty bad here right now.  Which reminds me, I WANT A HURRICANE to happen here while I am here!  It would be so fun. Uh yeah...

Dinner went great!  They loved the chicken!  Dominiic was surprised that I could cook.  I love messing around with her and giving her a hard time.  Always commenting on “Beach things” that we do and she will have to get used to it.  But I was giving her a hard time cause she is still learning how to cook and told her I will continue to cook for them if she gets baptized.  We only go over about twice a week to teach them. We have a member with us sometimes too.

Anywho... This last week was great!  We had a Zone Training Conference on Wednesday, I got to see some old friends from the other Zones in the past. Then of course we had General Conference this weekend!  I LOVE General Conference.  It's funny how things change when being on a mission.  Back home I thought it was so boring!  But being on a mission now!  I love it!  I really loved all of President Uchtdorf’s!  and Elder Neilson's!  Oh, we called this last week Spring Break 2014 for the missionaries cause we had General Conference and then we have Monday, Preparation day, and then Tuesday tomorrow we have Zone Activity Conference. I am so excited for that. Tomorrow we will be getting up early to drive to Wilmington, we will be lectured by President Bernhisel for a bit and then have lunch, and then for the rest of the day play ultimate frisbee, soccer, Capture the Flag, Volley Ball and some other sports!  I am pretty stoked for that!  And yeah that was pretty much the week.

Sorry again about the pictures… I most likely will not be able to get on tomorrow.  So Happy Birthday! I love you so much!  Hope everything is going well back home!

Love, Elder Beach
